Our goal is simple: it’s about understanding connection.

  • Connection and Safety

    Humans are born to connect.

A healthy connection between a child and parent supports growth, development, and overall physical, emotional and mental well being.

The provision of a safe environment protects the child from high cortisol levels, known to result in medical illness and brain structure damage.

Within a safe environment offering optimal opportunities of connection, a child is less likely to develop substance abuse behaviors.

  • Traumatic Disconnection

What we are beginning to understand, is the profound linkage between trauma, disconnection, and substance abuse.

Trauma can occur through through multiple levels of trauma, disconnection, abuse or neglect, and physical, sexual, verbal or emotional abuse. Any or a combination of experiences can significantly impact an individual’s propensity towards addiction.

Understanding the impact of Trauma in the treatment of substance abuse is critical towards healing and the development of substance independence skills.

  • The Value of a Strong Connection

“Early experiences affect the development of brain architecture, which provides the foundation for all future learning, behavior, and health. Just as a weak foundation compromises the quality and strength of a house, adverse experiences early in life can impair brain architecture, with negative effects lasting into adulthood.” Understanding the value of connection, can make that foundation strong. The American Journal of Preventive Medicine offers an excellent overview of how building strong connections early in childhood can positively impact a lifetime of health.

  • Healing Through Connectivity

Understanding the options available in connection treatment can help facilitate a choice of treatment, an understanding of the treatment process, and how a parent or loved one of someone in Recovery can do Self-Work, pre-treatment, during and after treatment.

Recovery is a phenomenal opportunity to discover ones own self and participate in positive growth that can impact and lift up an entire Family.

Through the Siblinghood of Recovery Podcasts, we explore resources available to those impacted by substance abuse challenges, and most importantly, we offer Self-Education and Self-Work resources.
